FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF FOUR KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THE 50-CENT PERF 10 AT TOP OR BOTTOM VARIETY. NONE ARE KNOWN UNUSED. THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL THE PERF 10 ON ONE SIDE VARIETIES.

Our census of Scott 517c, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/517c , contains only four certified examples of this rarity, three with postal cancels. Only one is completely sound. Another has a San Francisco precancel with a diagonal crease.
