30c Orange, F. Grill (100). Original gum, clear grill, pastel color, wide margins at top and bottom, full at left and design just touched at right, older certificate notes soiling in grill which is no longer present, as well as a tiny surface scrape below the left "30'" which is all but invisible

VERY FINE FOR THIS IMPOSSIBLE ISSUE. A SCARCE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 30-CENT F GRILL.

This stamp is infrequently found with original gum and a Power Search review of examples we have sold reveals that when it is found, more often than not it has faults, poor centering or both. The P.S.E. Population Report also bears this out as only two Scott 100's are graded with original gum -- at 50 and 80.
