Bottom imprint, plate no. 108 and letter "D D" strip of four, original gum, lightly hinged, bright shade and detailed impression, choice centering for this difficult multipleVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE AND BEAUTIFUL IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER STRIP OF FOUR OF THE $5.00 COLUMBIAN ISSUE.
The $5.00 bottom imprint, plate number 108 and letter "D D" block of eight is believed to be unique (ex "MLG", Siegel Sale 971). Therefore, a strip of four is the only practical means to show the complete imprint and plate number with plate letter. This choice $5.00 Columbian imprint and plate number strip is one of the two finest, second only to the Mint N.H. strip last sold in our 2015 Rarities of the World sale for $100,000 hammer.
