Libbey & Co.'s City Post, 10 Court Square [Boston]. Three covers bearing the red three-line handstamp offered as individual lots in the Golden sale (Sale 817), first on small folded letter to Rouse's Point N.Y., 3c Brownish Carmine, Ty. II (11A), cut in, tied by large "Paid" grid, red "Boston 3 cts. 18 May" (ca. 1852) integral-rate circular datestamp, Fine, ex Mason and Hollowbush, second on blue 1852 folded letter to South Lee Mass., 3c Brownish Carmine, Ty. II (11A), ample margins to slightly in, tied by large "Paid" grid, Fine, third on ca. 1852 small embossed Valentine cover to local street address, faint stain at upper left corner, otherwise Very Fine, probably as fine a strike as exists, ex Middendorf, J. L. Libbey, an agent for Carr's Bangor Express and Favor's Express, started a local post in 1852 (evidently short-lived)
