Boyd's City Express, New York N.Y., 2c Black on Green (20L8). Large margins, cancelled by cork on cover to Melbourne, Port Philip, Australia, where forwarded to Hobart Town, endorsed "Per steamer Sept. 7th/53" and "Via England", taken directly to the docks by Boyd's, marked "Not Paid", likely carried on the William Denny which departed Greenock Dec. 12, 1853 and arrived Melbourne Feb. 20, 1854, red "Paid Melbourne FE 20, 1854" handstamp, "Launceston 22 FE 1854" backstamp, indistinct red boxed handstamp dated Feb. 23 at left, manuscript "3" and "6" rates probably for ship and forwarding postage to Tasmania, faults including edgewear and pieces out at left, still presentable and undoubtedly a unique Boyd's use
