Sale 1232, Lot 1676, CarriersU.S.P.O., Philadelphia Pa., 1c Black on Yellow Glazed (7LB9). Large margins at top and left, traces of other two framelines, slightly oxidized, used with 3c Orange Brown, Ty. I (10), clear to large margins except in at top, bright color, tied by blue "Philadelphia Pa. Sep. 18" circular datestamp on brown cover to Brownsville Pa., small edge tear at left, part of backflap removed, Very Fine, this is the only recorded 7LB9 cover used in combination with the 3c 1851 Issue -- the postmark date (Sep. 18, 1851) is about four months later than the typical period of use of the 7LB1-7LB9 carrier stamps; however, the stamps were never declared invalid, and the new Franklin and Eagle official carrier stamps did not arrive until October-November 1851; therefore, it is possible for this to be a genuine use, although the accompanying 1980 P.F. certificate declines opinion as to whether the stamp originated on this cover -- ex Golden.
