Sale 1232, Lot 1670, CarriersU.S. City Despatch Post, New York N.Y., 3c Black on Blue Green Glazed, Double Impression (6LB5a). Full to large margins, very distinct and misaligned second impression is clearly a double impression, but accompanying P.F. certificate calls it a "kiss" impression, which we think is profoundly wrong, red "U.S." in frame cancels stamp, matching "U.S. City Despatch Post Oct. 25, 1 O'Clock" Type II circular datestamp on ca. 1843 cover front only, certificate also states (incorrectly, in our opinion) this did not originate on the front, but the impression of the cancel ties thru the paper, used from Rochester N.Y. to a street address, Very Fine stamp with a true double impression, ex Middendorf and Golden, accompanied by the 2000 P.F. certificate which we think got just about everything wrong -- as Clemenza would say, "Leave the certificate, take the item"
