FINE APPEARING AND EXTREMELY RARE USED BLOCK OF THE 3-CENT VICTORY ISSUE IN THE DEEP RED VIOLET SHADE, FROM A NEW DISCOVERY. FEWER THAN FIVE USED BLOCKS ARE RECORDED.

This newly discovered used block is the first we have offered since our 2001 sale of the Twigg-Smith collection. A block offered in our 2004 Rarities sale subsequently received a P.F. certificate as No. 537c. There are perhaps three or four known used blocks in total.
