Forwarded by Hale & Co. from Cour. & Enq. Building, New York. Red oval handstamp (Ty. F28) with matching Collect box (Ty. C4) on Sep. 8, 1844 folded letter from New Haven Conn. to Manchester Mass., routed through Hale's New York and Salem offices, where it entered the U.S. mails with red "Salem Mass. Sep. 10" circular datestamp and manuscript "6" rate, Very Fine, Hale did not have an agent in Manchester so this was put into the post office for final delivery, one of only two recorded Hale covers to Manchester
