Forwarded by Hale & Co. from Providence. Red oval handstamp (Ty. F36) with double-struck "12" handstamp and single strike of "25" rate handstamp (Ty. C16 and C19, respectively) on bluish Jan. 25, 1845 folded letter to Philadelphia, Very Fine, Gutman records only two examples of the 12c Ty. C16 handstamp and this sole example of the 25c Ty. C19, and he speculates that these were applied at the New York City office, not Providence
