Circular datestamp boldly struck, free frank of Senator John Sherman on red and blue Union Patriotic cover to Norwich Conn., overall design depicting eagle and shield, verse and titled "UNION!", toned spots, Fine and attractive, Sherman was a prominent senator from Ohio during the Civil War and later served as Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of State and was a three-time presidential candidate, he was the brother of William Tecumseh Sherman, with 1973 A.P.S. certificate
