SAM RICKER JR., NEW ORLEANS, AGENT FOR THE TEXIAN POST OFFICE. Large oval handstamp on back of folded cover to Hon. Thomas J. Rusk, Chief Justice of the Republic of Texas at Houston and forwarded to Nacogdoches, originated with "Pontotoc Mi. Jul. 1?" circular datestamp and manuscript "Paid 25" at upper right, hidden by Texas rate markings, including "31" for 25c rate plus 6c ship letter fee, and "50" additional for forwarding, totaling "81" due, pencil July 9, 1839 docketing, some splitting along vertical file fold, otherwise Fine, very unusual from a rate perspective
