FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE COMMERICIALLY USED 1884 10-CENT BLACK WITH BLUE INSIDE ENTIRE. THIS IS THE EARLIEST KNOWN USE OF THE THREE OR FOUR RECORDED.

Attesting to its true rarity, a used example of this 10c Blue Inside Entire was missing from some of the most advanced collections of Hawaii formed including those of the Honolulu Advertiser, Pietsch, Aall, Twigg-Smith, Golden and others. The Gregory Post Office in Paradise website records the previously known EDU as September 1, 1886 -- this example predates that cover by almost two years. A census kept by Michael Beck records three confirmed examples plus an example dated September 1, 1886, but it is not known if it is an entire or a cut square.

With 2016 P.F. certificate. Listed but unpriced in Scott.
