Sale 1227, Lot 3178, 1898 Trans-Mississippi Issue (Scott 285-293)50c Trans-Mississippi (291). Mint N.H. bottom imprint and plate no. 603 strip of five with corner sheet selvage and half arrow at right, brilliant color and detailed impression

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER PIECE OF THE 50-CENT TRANS-MISSISSIPPI ISSUE.

This was held for generations after being purchased at the post office in the 1890s. A plate strip is an excellent alternative to a Mint N.H. plate block of this issue, which catalogues $70,000.00. We have not offered another imprint and plate number strip in any condition in more than 25 years.

Scott value as Mint N.H. imprint and plate number strip of three plus two singles
