VERY FINE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT N. G. TAYLOR & CO. ENCASED POSTAGE ISSUE. ONE OF THE GREAT RARITIES OF THIS COLLECTING AREA.

The company was a huge importer and manufacturer of tin plate roofing material and other forms of metal goods. They were one of three firms in Philadelphia to order the new encased postage.

Ex T. James Clarke, who was known to polish his encased postage (his collection was sold in 1956), Ford and Mayer.
