Sale 1227, Lot 2193, 10c-12c 1851-56 Issue (Scott 13-17)10c Green, Ty. I (13). Unused (no gum), huge margins to barely touched at upper right, rich color, natural inclusion and tiny thin spot at top right

FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPE I.

Type I stamps come only from the bottom 20 positions of the plate. They are the only stamps to show the design complete at bottom. For some reason the sheet margin at bottom was often trimmed away, leaving a dearth of examples that show the full type-defining shells.
