VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THIS ESSAY FOR THE 1851 ISSUE, RECENTLY ATTRIBUTED TO THE FIRM OF HENRY C. BENNER IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

This essay was originally attributed to Rawdon, Wright, Hatch and Edson, printers of the 1847 Issue. In 2007 Roy Weber demonstrated that this was actually created by the small Washington firm of Henry C. Benner. The arguments in its favor are also available at the U.S. Philatelic Classics Society website.
