Tied by oval "Philadelphia Pa. 1" handstamp, a few letters and rim strengthened in pencil but a bold strike of this unusual and very rare marking, which was probably used exclusively on circular rate mail, on purple "Great Central Fair for the Sanitary Commission" illustrated cover showing battlefield scene with fallen soldier, return address imprint at side of intra-city cover, stamp has sealed tear, otherwise Very Fine, ex Walcott [Fig. 131], Kantor and Born, with 2015 P.F. certificate
