10c Blue, Special Delivery (E1). Bottom left corner imprint and plate no. 496 block of 15 with extremely wide selvage, natural straight edge and part arrow at right, original gum, lightly hinged in the gummed portion of the plate block selvage but the stamps in the plate block are all Mint N.H., top row stamps (above the plate block) lightly hinged, rich color, vertical crease thru second row from right, natural gum bends/creases thru third row from right, couple light creases in selvageVERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF 15 OF THE 1885 FIRST SPECIAL DELIVERY ISSUE.
All of the first four Special Delivery Issues (E1-E4) are extremely rare in plate block form. We believe the 1885 Issue, E1, is the rarest of the group with perhaps 5-7 known (including one pane). This is one of only three we have offered since keeping computerized records, and it is also the largest we have offered.
