30c Orange, Panama-Pacific Small Die Proof on Wove (71P2a). Brilliant color, hint of toning as always found on genuine Panama-Pacific proofsVERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 30-CENT 1861 ISSUE PANAMA-PACIFIC SMALL DIE PROOF ON WOVE.
Panama-Pacific proofs were found in envelopes with several of each denomination contained in each envelope. The characteristic toning comes from long-term storage. Only three to five of each example were printed. We have not offered another of the 30c 1861 since our 1999 sale of the Falk Finkelburg collection.
