Sale 1217, Lot 1215, Later Issues (9Scott 689-5306b)5c National Parks, Imperforate (744 var). Strip of six with plate no. 21278, from the bottom right corner of the sheet with huge margins, signed "Franklin D. Roosevelt 1934" at bottom, also part of a statement in manuscript likely referring to the sheet being pulled from the "press today", Extremely Fine, as discussed in the Scott Catalogue, Postmaster General James A. Farley gifted sheets of the National Parks and other issues, in imperforate form without gum, to several dignitaries, including President Roosevelt, the uproar this caused among collectors led to the mass printing of the imperforate sheets, now known as "Farley's Follies", this piece is not the Scott listed imperforate Farley No. 760, but rather a variety of the perforated issue No. 744, the presence of the Roosevelt signature (or one of the other recipients) is the only way to verify that these are the unissued variety
