10¢ 1847 used on the last day the 1847 Issue was valid for postage before demonetization10¢ Black (2), large margins except touched at top where there is a tiny nick, tied by bold red circular grid cancel with matching "Boston 10cts. 30 Jun" (1851) integral-rate circular datestamp and "STEAM" straightline handstamp on blue folded cover to New York City, docketing on back indicates the letter was written June 28, 1851, and arrived July 1, 1851--the first day of the new 1851 Issue, sender wiped off first city and wrote "New York", Very Fine, an extremely rare use on the last day of the 1847 Issue, the stamps were demonetized beginning July 1, 1851, when the new 3¢ rate went into effect (although many post-June 30 uses are known), incredibly this is the only normal 10¢ cover listed in the USPCS census that can be definitively dated to June 30, 1851 (a 10¢ bisect is also listed but it is in the Miller collection at the New York Public Library and not available to collectors), ex Craveri and Hackmey
