Sale 1211, Lot 69, 1847 Issue—Advertised and Forwarded Markings10¢ 1847 on a spectacular mourning envelope with Richmond "FORWARDED" handstamp

10¢ Black (2), large even margins, tied by magenta grid cancel with matching "Hartford Ct. Aug. 11" (ca. 1850) circular datestamp and "Paid" Pointing Hand handstamp and large "10" rate handstamp on small black-bordered mourning envelope to Richmond, Virginia, forwarded to Baltimore, Maryland, with brilliant orange-red "Richmond Va. Aug. 16" circular datestamp, matching "FORWARDED" straightline and "5" rate handstamps, the Richmond postal clerk used pen and ink to cross out the magenta "Paid" and "10" markings, and to cancel the 10¢ stamp for good measure, address neatly scratched out with new destination written in by sender, Extremely Fine, a colorful and rare combination of markings on an 1847 cover, ex Dr. Kapiloff and Boker
