5¢ 1847 on a cover from Edward Everett with New York City "ADVERTISED 4 cts." handstamp5¢ Red Brown (1), large to ample margins all around, rich color, cancelled by blue grid with matching "Cambridge Ms. Oct. 23" circular datestamp on envelope from Edward Everett to New York City, clear strike of red "Advertised 4cts." straightline handstamp struck in New York, neatly docketed with Everett's name, Very Fine and extremely rare auxiliary marking on an 1847 cover, this is the only example recorded in the USPCS 1847 census, Edward Everett was president of Harvard at this time and later became famous as the featured orator at Gettysburg (he spoke for two hours before Lincoln delivered his two-minute address), ex Dr. Kapiloff and Boker
