Extremely rare Waterbury Elephant, carved to celebrate the circus in townElephant, Type 3, Waterbury, Connecticut (Rohloff A-3), carved in recognition of the circus passing through town, perfect strike of front two-thirds of the elephant on 3¢ Rose (65), clearly showing the curved end of the trunk which is only found on the Type 3 design, stamp with natural pre-printing paperfold at right, sealed tears, Extremely Fine strike, this is the first we have offered since keeping computerized records, none of this type was offered in the Houser sale, we have only been able to locate two others (one on cover, one off) in our digital records, ex Waud and Jennings
