A spectacular "complete set" 1851 Issue cover from New Orleans to Mexico12¢ Black (17), used with horizontal pair of 1¢ Blue, Type IV (9) and vertical pair of 3¢ Dull Red, Type II (11A), large margins to in, tied by grid cancels, red "New Orleans La. Jun. 14" (1855) circular datestamp on blue folded cover to Vera Cruz, Mexico, from the Hargous correspondence, "Bruguiere & Co. New Orleans" oval backstamp, bold "2" reales due handstamp applied in Mexico
Very Fine and rare franking for the double 10¢ rate by American Packet to a distance less than 2,500 miles.
This cover was postmarked on June 14, 1855, shortly after the 10¢ denomination was issued. Nonetheless, it is regarded as a "complete set" cover with the three denominations issued in 1851.
