Paid 7 Jun. 30" 7¢ credit datestamp--after the journey from San Francisco to New York via Panama, it was carried on the Cunarder Europa, departing New York July 1, 1857, arriving at Liverpool on July 11--red "AACHEN 14/7 FRANCO" (July 14) framed datestamp and red framed "Franco Preuss:/resp. Vereinsl:AusgGr" handstamp (paid only to limits of German-Austrian Postal Union), Hamburg "St.P.A. 15 Jul 57" oval and "KDOPA HAMBURG 15/7" (July 15) Royal Danish Postal Agency in Hamburg double-circle backstamps, Very Fine--the prevailing rates to Denmark in June 1857 were 27¢ Bremen Packet, 21¢ British Open Mail, 35¢ Prussian Closed Mail and 27¢ French Mail; the 30¢ franking on this cover and German transit markings indicate that this was sent to Denmark as if it were a 30¢ Prussian Closed Mail rate cover to Germany, as there is no evidence of postage collected from the addressee--ex Arthur White and Hackmey, with 2005 P.F. certificate
