Tied by partly clear strike of Richmond Va. circular datestamp (Nov. 29, 1861?) on yellow Mississippi Secession Date Patriotic cover (FM-1) to Tudor Hall Va., elaborate illustration in banner depicting riverboat and industry, titled "Mississippi Jan. 9, 1861", Hammond imprint, expert restoration along edges and backflap reattached, some overall soilingVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE CONFEDERATE MISSISSIPPI SECESSION PATRIOTIC COVER FRANKED WITH THE FIRST GENERAL ISSUE STAMP.
This outstanding design commemorates the date Mississippi seceded from the Union. Power Search contains a handful of covers bearing this design, as well as one other Mississippi secession design depicting a bale of cotton (FM-2), which is unique. This is the only example of either design bearing a Confederate stamp we have offered since keeping computerized records.
