Tied by partly clear strike of Richmond Va. circular datestamp (Nov. 29, 1861?) on yellow Mississippi Secession Date Patriotic cover (FM-1) to Tudor Hall Va., elaborate illustration in banner depicting riverboat and industry, titled "Mississippi Jan. 9, 1861", Hammond imprint, expert restoration along edges and backflap reattached, some overall soiling

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE CONFEDERATE MISSISSIPPI SECESSION PATRIOTIC COVER FRANKED WITH THE FIRST GENERAL ISSUE STAMP.

This outstanding design commemorates the date Mississippi seceded from the Union. Power Search contains a handful of covers bearing this design, as well as one other Mississippi secession design depicting a bale of cotton (FM-2), which is unique. This is the only example of either design bearing a Confederate stamp we have offered since keeping computerized records.
