Nashville Tenn., 5c Brick Red (61X3). Large margins to touched at bottom and right, vivid Brick Red color on blue-gray paper, tied by blue "Nashville Ten. Sep. 23, 1861" circular datestamp with matching "PAID" straightline handstamp on gray "State of Tennessee Executive Department" overall lithographed cover to Clarksville Tenn., with illustrations of agriculture and commerce, W. T. Berry & Co. imprint on flap, a few minor toned spots are inconsequential, mounting remnants on backVERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR STATE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT COVER BEARING THE NASHVILLE 5-CENT BRICK RED PROVISIONAL STAMP.
Other examples of this Executive department cover we have offered show varying levels of intensity of the lithographed design, ranging from light to medium. This is the clearest and boldest example of this design we have seen, beautifully showing the agriculture and commerce illustrations.
