10c Blue, Die A (11). Margins all around, affixed to small piece mounted on a letter, Jefferson Davis portrait with noose drawn around his neck and hanging from a "Sour Apple" tree, titled "Coming events, cast their shadows before", letter states "Darling these stamps taken from a dead Rebels pocket after the battle of Gettysburg. The gentleman who gave them to me is a Steward in one of the Battery Hospitals and he took them out of the Rebels pocket himself. Keep them as a relic of war", Very Fine, an outstanding battlefield stamp souvenir which might be called the Union answer to the iconic "Hanging Lincoln" cartoons, accompanied by an extensive article by Patricia Kaufmann
