Position 3, ample to large margins with two full framelines, bottom right corner slightly clipped, without usual pen cancellation, tied by "Baltimore Md. Feb. 16" (1847) circular datestamp with "5" in circle and two strikes of "PAID" handstamp on folded letter to New York City, additional strike of "PAID" handstamp at left, light vertical file fold thru stamp has been skillfully pressed and is not mentioned on accompanying certificate

EXTREMELY FINE. A REMARKABLE USE WITH THE 5-CENT BALTIMORE PROVISIONAL TIED BY THE TOWN DATESTAMP, RATE MARKING AND "PAID" HANDSTAMP.

This is the only recorded Baltimore provisional cover with the stamp tied by three different handstamps. It is especially desirable with all three struck in blue.

No. 25 in the Hayes census. USPCS Census No. 20120. Ex Caspary, Haas and Wall. With 2001 P.F. certificate. Scott value is for normally pen-cancelled stamp on cover (footnote states: "Stamps on cover tied by handstamps command premiums.")
