"Mountain Station" and "The Crossing", 3c 1869 Pictorial Design Die Proofs. Both versions of the large die proofs depicting the iconic James Smillie engraving of a train crossing a bridge that was used as the basis for the 3c 1869 Pictorial Issue, first with 125 x 52mm extended design called "Mountain Station", die sunk on 228 x 151mm card with full die sinkage, second with 95 x 42mm design called "The Crossing", nearly the same design but slightly truncated from the first with extended scenes at sides missing, also some other engraving differences, die sunk on 228 x 152mm card with full die sinkage, both with National Bank Note Co. imprint, absolutely pristine, Extremely Fine and wonderful proofs for the 1869 collector, accompanied by North Western Bank Warren Pa. $1.00 obsolete note with the same engraving as "The Crossing", Fine
