Sale 1192, Lot 987, Confederate States: Group LotsBotetourt Springs Va. 12 covers and one piece with the distinctive Botetourt Springs Va. balloon-style circular datestamp, most are Confederate uses including No. 1 on cover and another No. 1 on piece, No. 6 pair, No. 11 on turned cover with 3c 1857 Issue (26) on inside, four others with Nos. 11-12, also two Confederate stampless from 1861 including one with unusual "Paid 5" in rectangle on obsolete U.S. Star Die entire (reduced at top), final three are pre-Civil War including No. 10A on ladies border embossed cover with manuscript postmark, second with manuscript postmark and third on 3c Nesbitt entire, some flaws to be expected but overall Fine-Very Fine, this town's postmark is distinguished by the near universal strength of its strikes -- unusual for postmarks during the Confederacy
