1c Black on Off-White, Profile McKinley, Bureau of Engraving & Printing, 1902 Postal Card Essay (UX18E-A). Design elements including uncleared surrounds in "Postal Card" trimmed to shape and pasted on thick off-white card with raised cross-hatching, manuscript at bottom "First & only sample from condemned die proof", blue Bureau control No. 43822 on back with pencil "Last", Very Fine and extremely rare, the UPSS catalog lists only two similar examples, we are aware of one other plus this example which comes from the estate of Stamp Division Superintendent Major James H. Reeve and was previously unrecorded
