Sale 1187, Lot 67, 1857-60 Issue (Scott 18-39)1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Position 45L4, rich color and bright paper, sharp impression, light strike of town datestamp, beautifully centered with clear break at top, bottom break is visible to us despite the cancel crossing that area (see certificate descriptions below)

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A GORGEOUS EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE III.

Due to narrow spacing on the plate, examples of this type often have the perforations cutting into the outer lines at either top or bottom or both. The example offered here clearly presents the characteristics of the type.

With 2001 P.F. certificate noting the plating, which is independently confirmed by expert Richard Celler. With 2017 P.S.E. certificate not noting plating and describing this as Type IIIa (Scott 22), which it clearly is not. Also accompanied by No. 466 Mint N.H., reperfed
