Paid 19 Aug. 19" (1862) credit datestamp on "Slaves Contraband of War" Anti-Slavery Patriotic cover to Plymouth, England, fascinating cartoon design depicting a Zouave protecting a slave from a Southerner under an American flag with quote by Wendell Phillips and "See Wendell Phillips great War Speech, For sale by Thos. Hamilton", receiving backstamp, barely reduced at top, minor cosmetic improvements along edges (not mentioned on certificate)
