HAWAII, 1893, 12c Black, Category I Double Red Ovpt. (62d). Horizontal pair with wide bottom sheet selvage, at least portions of three ovpts. present on each stamp with strong second ovpt. split horizontally, most of a third ovpt. shows in selvage, original gum, deep shade with beautiful centering, right stamp small inclusionEXTREMELY FINE. A RARE PAIR OF THE 1893 12-CENT DOUBLE RED OVERPRINT ERROR, SHOWING THE SHIFTED IMPRESSION IN BOTTOM SHEET SELVAGE.
Only two sheets were doubly overprinted. This pair with the selvage capturing the shifted overprint is a striking example, as well as an extremely rare multiple.
