EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1893 2-CENT DULL VIOLET WITH INVERTED OVERPRINT.

Only two sheets were overprinted upside down and very few examples of this inverted overprint error are known, either unused or used. The unused example offered in the previous lot as well as the used examples offered here and in our 2009 sale of the Golden collection are the only Scott 57g inverted overprints listed in Power Search.
