HAWAII, 1866, 5c Blue (32). Tied by three-ring target cancel on cover to Racine Wisconsin, red "Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid Apr. 25" (1866) circular datestamp, carried to San Francisco on the American bark Comet on Apr. 25, arriving May 14, upon arrival the Hawaiian U.S. Postage Paid datestamp was ignored and the cover was struck with "8" in circle due marking (2c ship captain's fee plus 6c postage, despite the law stating the captain's fee was included in the 6c rate), the error apparently was detected and two 3c Rose (65) were applied over the due marking and tied by cogwheel cancels, also light strikes of target cancels, "San Francisco Cal. May 19" double-circle datestamp struck upon departure via Panama, one of the 3c stamps lifted to reveal the "8" due handstamp and hinged below (bold offset of the handstamp on back of stamp), other 3c stamp trimmed at upper right, Hawaiian stamp with some perf toning, Very Fine appearance and an unusual use, also the earliest documented use of Scott No. 32, with 1977 P.F. certificate which incorrectly states the Honolulu date as Apr. 28
