1c Blue, Ty. II (20). Plate 12, original gum, deep rich color, unusually choice centering with wide and balanced marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT TYPE II. THE RARITY OF THIS TYPE IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED BY COLLECTORS OF HIGH-QUALITY STAMPS. THIS STAMP IS GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND IT IS SHARED BY NO OTHER ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLES.
With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $6,250.00). This is the highest grade awarded to any unused Scott 20, and it is the only original-gum example graded 95. That said, we think this stamp deserves an even higher grade -- either 95 Jumbo or Superb 98 -- to reflect its extraordinary margin width and centering
