1c Blue (63). Deep rich color on crisp paper, wide and balanced margins, light strike of circle of V's cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, ex Merlin, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $575.00), despite the abundance of used copies of Scott 63, it is very difficult to find in the higher grades either used or unused, only five used examples have graded higher than 95 (highest is 98, which realized $3,000 hammer in our sale 1140 in 2016)
