Sale 1155, Lot 3217, 1869 thru Later Issues$1.00 Violet Brown (423). Two large cover fronts boldly addressed in blue "To Federal Reserve Agent, San Francisco, Cal.", both with strips of three of No. 423 and additional stamps including 50c Perf 12 (421 or 422), 30c Perf 12 (420), 10c Perf 10 (433 or 472) and 2c Perf 11 (499), all stamps tied by Washington D.C. double oval cancels, purple "REGISTERED" straightlines and nearly consecutive registry numbers, both fronts with one defective stamp (30c and 10c respectively), Very Fine appearance, a very scarce pair of fronts bearing strips of Scott 423, these packages carried currency form the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Scott Retail for No. 423 on cover is $7,000.00
