England to Fredericksburg, 1777, "pr the Shipper of the Sloop York", British Blockade Run. Folded cover addressed to Mr. James Hunter in Fredericksburg, docketing reads "1777 Adam Craig Novr. 27", minor wear, Very Fine, the British Admiralty issued a "seize and detain" order on July 6, 1775, it was designed to prevent all commerce by American vessels, the blockade that resulted grew to a peak of 32 warships by June 1778, before it was temporarily ended by French entry into the Revolutionary War
