Cockermouth, England to Philadelphia via London, 1746, "COCKER/MOUTH". Two-line handstamp on folded cover to Israel Pemberton in Philadelphia, manuscript "poast payd to London 4d" at bottom and "ppd 4" at top, brownish-black "PD" in circle handstamp on front and "18/NO" (Nov. 18) Bishop's mark on back, docketing inside gives yeardate and notes sender was Benjamin Holme, opened for display, some splitting along folds and faint toning, Very Fine, the recipient was one of the wealthiest merchants in Philadelphia, both the sender and recipient were prominent Quakers, ex Historical Society of Pennsylvania
