2c Green (3). Positions 21-22/31-32, block of four, bottom left stamp Left Top Knot variety, large margins to barely in at upper right, two light strikes of "Richmond Va. Jan. 24, 1863" circular datestamp, small thin spot at bottom left, few creases affect top stampsVERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USED BLOCK OF THE 2-CENT LITHOGRAPH AND UNDOUBTEDLY UNIQUE SHOWING THE TOP KNOT VARIETY. CERTAINLY AMONG THE FINEST OF THE FEW USED BLOCKS KNOWN.
We have offered no other used blocks of this issue since 1997. A Power Search review found only one other used block, ex Nunnelley (Sale 795, lot 684 and 1981 Rarities sale).
