The Robert L. Markovits Exhibition Collection of U.S. 19th Century 7c-90c Postal Stationery. Offered intact as received, beautifully mounted on exhibit pages, including the issues of George F. Nesbitt, George H. Reay, National Bank Note Company and Plimpton Manufacturing Company, including the only recorded 12c Nesbitt used outside of the Wells, Fargo delivery system, 40c No. U45 used as a paste-up with blue Wells, Fargo oval datestamp (catalogs $4,500.00 as used), two examples of U66 used, No. U68 used with 6c 1869 Pictorial (115) and another used with 24c Bank Note (153), two used examples of U72 (one a paste-up, other to Germany), for the Reay issue several proofs are included for the 7c including a hub proof (one of two recorded) and five on paper or card (the only reported such proofs), also including nine 7c entires (U88, catalog $900.00 apiece) to various destinations, best is probably No. U107 used to Germany (only recorded use of this paper, catalogs $5,000.00), National Bank Note Co. represented by nine 90c trial color essays (Undersander E44A, catalog $1,000.00 apiece), probably the most comprehensive section is the Plimptons including two used 12c (unpriced in Scott and very rare), UO42 used, two 24c used, nice group of 30c to various destinations such as Java, Curacao, Bermuda and Germany, few better watermarks, 90c Specimens in Carmine and Purple, also bidder's samples on a range of papers, 90c government frame sample used to France, nice group of 90c Carmine and Purples on various papers to range of destinations, some faults to be expectedVERY FINE.
