Plate 1L, clear break in bottom frameline (we are unable to identify the exact position), recut once at top, large to huge margins including parts of adjoining stamps above and below and trace at left, deep shade, cancelled by New York City carrier department red "U.S. Mail/City Delivery/2/Jun. 21" circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, an outstanding 1c 1851 stamp that is noteworthy not only for quality, but also as a very scarce plate variety, with 2015 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $975.00) which does not note the plate variety
