1863 Soldier Letter Regarding Slavery. 6-page letter (missing the very last part) written by a soldier and datelined "Near Richmond Va., August 12, 1863", letter takes up the subject of slavery to an individual who agrees with slavery and against abolishing it, speaks of meeting a plantation owner near Richmond with over 4,000 acres and with hundreds of slaves, speaks of one young slave in particular who was the plantation owner's daughter and his shock in him "owning her", and more, Very Fine
