5c Red Brown (75). Well-centered and rich color, tied by unusual circular grid cancel, "Nobleston Pa. 11 28" circular datestamp with date in pencil on blue cover to "Consul de France" in New Orleans, blue Dec. 1 New Orleans receiving backstamp, slightly reduced at bottom and part of bottom flap missing, otherwise Very Fine, an unusual use overpaying the 3c rate, given the amount of French mail from New Orleans that used 5c 1856-1861 stamps, the sender may have had a supply of that stamp and used it on domestic mail during his travels outside New Orleans
