NEW-YORK, MAY 18 (1798). Remarkably clear strike in red of the "clamshell" datestamp on folded cover to Suffield Conn., manuscript "12-1/2" rate, docketing on back extends to address panel, slightly worn file fold, still Extremely Fine, the New York "Clamshell" marking is much scarcer in red and seldom clearly struck, Cal Hahn noted this was the "3rd best red strike recorded" and we suppose he was in a position to know
